IMMIGRATION PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS

BHT_flowers_IPE

Immigration Psychological Evaluations serve as an important aspect of the immigration process, providing crucial insights into an individual’s mental health and overall well-being. They are an essential step in obtaining legal status in the U.S., but it does not guarantee success. These evaluations can help a court determine whether an individual and/or their family can lawfully remain in the U.S. These evaluations are instrumental in determining an applicant’s eligibility for immigration benefits, asylum, or other legal considerations.

Blooming Harmony Therapy recognizes the profound impact these evaluations can have on an individual’s life, for this reason, each evaluation is addressed from a trauma-informed lens, one that helps create a safe space to share your story. At Blooming Harmony Therapy we address these evaluations with the utmost care and professionalism possible so that your story and your voice is heard.

What Happens During a

Psychological Evaluation?

During the 4-6 evaluation meetings you will be asked questions regarding your personal background, mental health, your family, and discuss any medical and psychiatric conditions and medications. The information gathered is then used for a 9+ page detailed report that discusses hardship factors, results of mental status examination and scales, DSM-V diagnosis, implication, and recommendations. All meetings are conducted via telehealth, with evening and weekend availability.

ASYLUM

An Asylum evaluation assesses the psychological effects of trauma resulting from persecution, torture, or war that a refugee has experienced. This evaluation helps identify symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions commonly experienced by refugees and asylum seekers.

EXTREME HARDSHIP

A psychological evaluation for Extreme Hardship assesses the impact on the individual if a separation from a family member occurs due to a non-citizen visa being denied. This evaluation helps the immigration court have a better understanding of the impact on the individual’s mental health, medical necessity, financial burden, and educational concerns.

U-VISA

An immigration psychological evaluation for U-Visa assesses mental or physical abuse toward the individual who has been a victim of a qualifying crime such as sexual abuse, sexual harassment, abduction, extortion, fraud, false imprisonment, rape, stalking, murder, torture, hostage and blackmail. This evaluation helps assess the impact of abuse on the individual and is used when filing for a nonimmigrant visa set aside for victims that are helpful to law enforcement or government officials in the investigation or prosecution of criminal activity.

T-VISA

A psychological evaluation for T-Visa assesses hardship and mental abuse to individuals who have been victims of human trafficking.

VAWA

A psychological evaluation for VAWA assesses the impact of physical, verbal, sexual, financial, or emotional abuse toward the individual. This evaluation helps establish the occurrence of domestic abuse in order to file for legal status separately from the U.S. citizen spouse.
